WHAT IS CHIP AND SEAL?

While a chip and seal surface uses a lot of the same materials as a traditional asphalt surface, the installation process is what sets this surface apart. Chip and seal starts with a layer of hot liquid asphalt, followed by an aggregate or "chips" being spread over this liquid layer and pressed into place. These chips can be comprised of gravel or polished stone and is what allows for the aesthetic differences you see when comparing the two surface types. Once the sealant is dry, customers are left with a durable, tough surface well-suited for residential driveways, parking lots, municipal roadways, and much more. When we first install your chip and seal surface, we will do a double coat of chip and seal.

Part of what makes chip and seal a desirable alternative to asphalt is its price. Many projects can be completed at a fraction of the cost of an asphalt surface, making it a popular option for home and business owners alike. The chip and seal application can also be used over existing paved asphalt as a cost-effective way to fill holes and cracks or add traction to slick surfaces.
